Victory in the preliminary (regional) round of All-Russian competition of the Russian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics “Non-Destructive Testing Technician 2022”

Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Applied Technologies team of specialists took part in the annual event in the field of non-destructive testing – All-Russian competition of the Russian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics (RSNTTD) “Non-Destructive Testing Technician 2022”. The preliminary (regional) round of the competition was held on April 18-20, 2022 at the premises of the Center for Evaluation of Non-Destructive Testing and Welding-Specialists- 11 (“The Main Center for Evaluation of Upper Volga Region” LLC, Nizhny Novgorod).
Our colleagues – Vladimir Tanin, Yuriy Vikharev and Aleksandr Kozlov – rose to the occasion and presenting NNIAT as a reliable team of professionals.
According to the results of stiff competition Vladimir Tanin, Head of NDT Laboratory, won first place in two nominations in a row: “Visual and Dimensional Test” (V&DT) and “Visual and Dimensional Test + Radiography Test” (V&DT + RT).
The final round is ahead, we wish our colleagues nothing but victory!

A few words about RSNTTD “NDT Technician 2022”
All-Russian competition of RSNTTD for non-destructive testing “NDT Technician 2022” is organized by the Russian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics (RSNTTD) and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia (Rostekhnadzor).
The competition operator is SRO Association “National Agency of Non-Destructive Testing and Welding” – the central body of NDT system of RSNTTD at hazardous production facilities (NDT HPF RSNTTD).
Preliminary rounds are held during the period from February 1 to September 1, 2022 in 32 regions at the premises of evaluation centers NDT HPF RSNTTD.
Representatives of PJSC ”Gazprom”, PJSC “Transneft”, OJSC “Russian Railways (RZD)”, PJSC “TMK” and other major industrial enterprises compete for the title of the best NDT Technician.

The best specialists in the following nominations and multinominations (combination of NDT methods (types) are determined based on the results of the Competition:

- Visual and Dimensional Test (V&DT);

- Ultrasonic testing (UT);

- Radiography testing (RT);

- Dye penetrant testing (PT);

- Magnetic particle testing (MT);

- V&DT and UT;

- V&DT and RT;

- V&DT, PT and MT;

- V&DT, UT and RT.

The preliminary (regional) round of the Competition in Nizhny Novgorod consisted of theoretical and practical parts.
During the theoretical stage, knowledge of the participants in the field of physical principles of NDT methods, key parameters and technologies of conducting NDT with a certain method were tested.
During the practical stage, participants had to demonstrate their skills in applying a certain NDT method, choosing the proper equipment and testing parameters for specific objects in accordance with the requirements of national and interstate standards.
Evaluation of the results was conducted by the jury during completion of the tasks and based on the analysis of materials, developed by the competitors.

The final round of the Competition will be held in Moscow in October 2022 as a part of the Russian Industry Week and the IX International Industrial Forum “NDT Territory. Non-Destructive Testing. Test. Diagnostics.“ at the Central Exhibition Complex “Expocenter” at Krasnaya Presnya. The winners of the Competition preliminary round nominated in multinominations, as well as 30 winners of the preliminary round who scored the most points in separate nominations, will be invited to the final round.

RSNTTD competitions are well-known among the experts and industrial companies.
The events are attractive to specialists from the leading enterprises since they can showcase their proficiency, knowledge and skills; the events provide opportunities for professional development and sharing experience.
Industrial enterprises note that NDT specialist profession became more prestigious and appealing, and is included in the list of 50 most popular professions.
The competition also contributes to easier development of the standards for NDT specialists training.
