Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Applied Technologies

Flawless work

NNIAT received a prestigious award for the unique contribution to the environment protection.

Experience of the Russian specialists and companies in the oil field services and environmental protection is increasingly in demand in not only Russia, but also abroad, in the most complex and problematic areas. For the results of their work, speak not only the assessments of the global business customers, but also independent reviews of environmentalists and scientists, as well as prestigious awards.

Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Applied Technologies (NNIAT) won the All-Russian Internet Prize «Prometey-2016» in the special nomination «Ecology and Environmental Protection». The citizens of Nizhny Novgorod, represented by Vladimir Noarov, NNIAT General Director, were awarded for the development and implementation of unique and innovative environmental technologies in Russia and abroad.

The award ceremony took place in the center of Moscow, in the TASS building. Totally, this year, 25 contestants from all over the country got through to the final of «Prometey». Deputy General Director of TASS Andrey Sokolov emphasized the fact that many regions were represented and they demonstrate strong growth of creative potential and innovative technologies.

Alexei Chadaev, adviser to the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation noticed the following: «There is a popular belief that Russia is not a country which takes care about environmental protection. The Year of Ecology is aimed at overcoming this perception of our country. I am sure that this is not only the work of authorities and senior managers, but also the efforts of ordinary people, Internet activists, young, outstanding and interesting teams, one of which we award today – Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Applied Technologies».

Vladimir Noarov, General Director of NNIAT, said that the main mission of the Company is to increase environmental safety in the oil industry and, as a result, to preserve and restore the environment and natural resources in different climatic zones of Russia and beyond.

Indeed, Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Applied Technologies often resolves issues at such facilities, where other companies fail or even refuse to tackle work. That is why not only the leading Russian oil and gas companies cooperate with NNIAT, but also foreign ones, including Europe and Middle East.

For example, the work process of storage tanks for oil and oil products is associated with a number of technical, environmental and economic problems. One of such issues is the accumulation of oil sediments inside tanks.
Efficiency of technologies applied by the NNIAT specialists allows neutralizing up to 99% of the hydrocarbon part of oil contaminations.

Since 2006, NNIAT has been successfully implementing its own technology, which enables to speed up oil sludge removal from tanks with the return of the hydrocarbon part to the production cycle of the Client. At the same time, the NNIAT specialists have vast experience in performing the most complex projects for cleaning all types of tanks, including damaged tanks, with a large amount of oil sludge, broken geometry and damaged bottom, flooded and bottomed pontoons.

According to Vladimir Noarov, for the 10 years period NNIAT has cleaned more than 1,000 tanks of various types and sizes in oil refineries, pumping stations, commodity bases, oil terminals, power plants and boiler houses in the volume of 1,000 to 120,000 m [3] with oil sludge volume up to 18,000 m [3].

In addition, the continuous search for effective environmental solutions and technologies, as well as the desire to optimize the costs of oil-containing waste disposal stimulated NNIAT specialists to develop a completely closed cycle of oil-containing waste treatment technology, which is innovative for the industry. As a result, the system used by NNIAT today allows the enterprise-clients to solve the problems related to complete removal of oil wastes within the company without the need for external disposal.
Apart from this, NNIAT specialists are engaged in liquidation of oil contaminations, soils and water treatment, extraction of oil-containing liquid from underground lenses and microbiological neutralization of oil-containing wastes.

Speaking about the latter, NNIAT is on cutting edge. For many years, NNIAT has been successfully applying methods of microbiological treatment of oil pollution from both surface and deep layers of soils without the need for excavation.

To realize this NNIAT uses its own biologic-preparation oil destructor, invented and manufactured at the NNIAT industrial base. Without revealing the commercial and scientific secrets of the composition of the oil destructor, Vladimir Noarov explained that the decomposition of oil and oil products in soil is a complex biochemical process. The activity of microorganisms affects the decomposition rate, ensuring the mineralization of oil, converting its components into water and carbon dioxide, which in turn speeds up the restoration of ecological situation.

At the same time, according to General Director of NNIAT, the presence of large strains collection and availability of basis of the leading microbiological institutions, as well as availability of experienced microbiologists enables, if necessary, both to increase efficiency of the own biological preparation and to identify high-performance microorganisms from the local native microflora. Efficiency of the applied technology allows neutralizing up to 99% of hydrocarbon part.

The result of the works is complete restoration of the disturbed natural area, which, as a result, becomes safe for human health and the environment. Thereby, NNIAT contributes significantly to the preservation and restoration of the environment and natural resources.

«We are proud that our company has gained reputation of a reliable partner and is one of the largest oil service companies in the field of development and application of innovative technologies aimed at solution of environmental problems of oil and gas industry», - says NNIAT General Director Vladimir Noarov.
